You can see the sandy beach in the foreground with a few Canadian geese and swimmers in the water with the mountains off in the distance. Chatfield is actually a reservoir built as part of Denver’s flood protection plan, but Chatfield State Park offers swimming, boating, camping, hiking and biking trails all within a stone’s throw of the Denver Metropolitan area.
